This company operates through a network of independently owned local agents rather than one central workforce. That means your crew, truck, and day-to-day service quality depend on which specific agent handles your move — the corporate brand sets standards and handles marketing and claims, but the people loading your truck work for a local business, not the parent company directly.

Review data below reflects the North American Van Lines agent, Irving, TX location specifically — North American Van Lines operates through many independently run locations, so this is one representative sample, not the entire national network. Pulled 2026-08-12. See how we select and review movers.

North American Van Lines in one paragraph

This Irving, TX agent shows a mostly positive pattern — named drivers and crews praised repeatedly for communication and care — alongside a few serious complaints about compressed packing timelines and warehouse delays pushing delivery weeks past the promised window.

What North American Van Lines typically offers

  • Full-service packing and unpacking
  • Loading, transport, and unloading for interstate moves
  • Storage-in-transit for moves where the destination isn't ready yet
  • Furniture disassembly and reassembly
  • Vehicle/auto shipping, in most cases
  • Corporate and government relocation, for larger agents

Confirm which of these your specific move includes — not every location or crew offers every service, especially for agent-network and franchise brands.

How booking with North American Van Lines works

  1. Request a quote online or by phone, and ask for an in-home or video walkthrough survey for anything larger than a 1-bedroom.
  2. Review the written estimate — confirm whether it's binding, non-binding, or binding-not-to-exceed, and what's included.
  3. Get written booking confirmation for your specific date, not just a completed survey.
  4. Crew arrives to pack (if included) and load on moving day; do a walkthrough with the crew lead before they leave.
  5. Your shipment transits to the destination — ask for a specific delivery window and how you'll be updated.
  6. At delivery, inspect items against the inventory sheet before signing off — note any damage in writing immediately.

Protection plans and valuation coverage

Like most interstate movers, North American Van Lines is required to offer basic released-value protection (about 60 cents per pound per item) at no extra cost — it rarely covers what your belongings are actually worth. Full-value protection costs more but covers repair or replacement at current value. Given the damage and claims themes in the reviews below, it's worth reading how estimate types affect your final bill and binding vs. non-binding estimates before you sign anything.

Where North American Van Lines is genuinely good

  • Repeated praise for specific drivers keeping customers updated throughout transit
  • Competitive pricing cited by multiple reviewers
  • Careful handling of heavy furniture and floors on well-run jobs

Where North American Van Lines falls short

  • At least one pack/load job compressed from 2 days to 1, leading to disorganized packing
  • A detailed complaint describes belongings sitting in a warehouse for weeks past a guaranteed delivery window with poor communication
  • As an agent network, service quality depends heavily on which local agent handles your move

What customers are saying (36 of 81 reviews)

“All staff members from the initial call to the transport driver delivered exceptional customer service throughout the process. All timelines were met as scheduled, and items arrived safely without issue. We appreciate the communication we received along the way.”

5/5 — Vicki Burris, 2026-07-30

“Todd did our in house estimate. He was very friendly and professional. Our driver, Josh, who finally delivered our goods was terrific. Great communication, professional, and thorough. Everything else about the experience was terrible. Our pack and load was compressed from 2 days to 1 which was not enough time for the job to be done properly. The situation at my home was pure chaos. My belongings were packed haphazardly and without care. They sat in a warehouse without a driver to take them...”

“Hassle-free move from TX to IL. Great experience and service.”

“Guess its ok for your drivers to pull out information of a semi...ANOTHER SEMI PULLING OUT INFONT OF ONE REALLY guess commonsense is not so common. Yes its only the last part but its still a video.i was doing 38 on the road both phone and Garmin said it was 40. Glad to know your drivers dont care about other semis.”

“We are extremely disappointed with our experience using North American Van Lines for our recent move. We paid over $7,700 for what we were promised would be professional, reliable moving services. Our belongings were picked up on April 27, 2026, with a guaranteed delivery window of April 30–May 2. Unfortunately, this turned into one of the most stressful experiences we have ever endured. From the beginning, there were major issues. The driver spent over an hour arguing loudly with his crew...”

“Competitively priced. Great crews on both ends. Little to no damage. Good experience.”

5/5 — Larry DeWitt, 2026-05-08

“The move could not have been easier. Driver and movers on both ends were fast, friendly and careful. Driver was awesome to deal with all the way through keeping in direct contact.”

5/5 — Chad Aaron Keller, 2026-05-07

“Cannot recommend this business enough, my family moved from Dallas to Seattle and we absolutely made the right choice going with these guys. Beltmann group provided a very competitive price and were responsive and helpful with every question I had along the way as we were preparing to move. Their driver and moving team could not have been more professional and thorough, I was very impressed with how much care they took with packing all our heavy furniture and boxes and how quickly/...”

5/5 — Elizabeth Stacy, 2026-04-29

“Extremely happy with move from TX to FL, including the estimator Jim, who made several on site visits to get an accurate scope and quote and the driver Mr Johnson who also came to the house the day before loading to review every item to be moved, including how to protect every item. They were extremely careful loading & unloading, including protecting the floors, very professional and respectful and even delivered ahead of schedule. All for a fair price.”

“When do you plan to provide HausofHellen with financial compensation? Come on, gentlemen, answer me.”

1/5 — Cristy Ponce, 2026-04-08

“We needed to arrange a major cross country move with short notice and two weeks prior to Christmas. After contacting several moving companies, Beltran Relocation immediately rose to the top of our list, providing an immediate and competitive on site quote, followed by a scheduled moving date that satisfied our requirements. Actual execution of the move, both loading, delivery and unloading was flawless. The basis of our high recommendation was the consistent communications from all parties -...”

5/5 — Roddy Guthrie, 2026-01-22

“The move was fairly smooth. They showed up on time, the loaders were very careful not to hit walls, doors, and take care of the furniture. It did take a while to arrive at the new place, but wasn’t a big deal. The unloading wasn’t as careful, some walls and doors got dinged. Some of the furniture did get minor scratches and dings, and one floor lamp is missing. A sculpture was cracked. We did pack ourselves, and highly recommend using heavy duty boxes. But all together was a good move.”

4/5 — Henry Aschner, 2026-01-01

“Walter and Rita are EXTREMELY amazing people and did an excellent job with moving our belongings. They were extremely professional, fast and efficient! I would highly recommend this couple to do your long distance move! GOD Bless them and their team!”

5/5 — Jannelle Perez, 2025-11-24

“This was my second time moving I went with a brokerage moving company the first time (Menards Moving company 0/10) on my first time. They quoted me 3000 and by the time they had my stuff packed up it was 9000. This time I asked my uncle and he recommended Beltman Relocation Group and what they quoted me for 3000 for a Texas to Indiana move and I paid 3000. It was fast and easy and they arrived on time.”

5/5 — Julia O, 2025-11-01

“Overall, my wife and I are very satisfied with the work completed by the movers. We did not have anything major break and everything was properly labeled and packed on the truck. The movers themselves did a good job and making sure care was taken with our stuff. My only reason for not giving 5 stars, is the communication was lackluster at best. We knew the days they would arrive but got less than stellar communication on the actual timeline on the load day. Otherwise, if I had to move again...”

4/5 — William Lofton, 2025-10-19

“Steer clear of this moving service. It is overpriced for the utter lack of communication. I was told my delivery would be a certain date (I booked over a month in advance of the move), but my delivery date was moved back multiple times without even giving me an update. They picked up all of my stuff over a week in advance of my preferred delivery date, but that didn’t seem to matter as they didn’t get close to meeting that date. I had to constantly check in to see when the delivery date...”

“This move was so easy I am never going back to moving myself. The whole process was smooth and fast. The teams at both ends were accommodating and professional. They put all our worries at ease. We moved 3 berooms & a fridge from TX to IN. Communication was constsnt and thorough.”

5/5 — Gunther Ruderschmidt, 2025-08-18

“100% recommend!! From the first employee (Jim) who came out to measure, to the call center (Denise), to the Driver (Will) and his pick up and drop off crew were absolutely fantastic! They are so professional, friendly, and completely care for your belongings. We had a huge amount of belongings and it went so smoothly!! We had a far move and the price was very reasonable as well! Thank you to everyone who helped us. What a great company!”

5/5 — Sheila Novak, 2025-08-11

“Moving day was not good. I was not able to pack everything and they had to pack a lot. That part went well. When they loaded the truck they forgot several important items that I cannot replace. I can not say the move was good. I would not use them again.”

3/5 — Pam Deeb, 2025-07-05

“We’ve had two long-distance moves with North American Van Lines, and both times, we were thoroughly satisfied. Their customer service is exceptional, from the initial quote to the coordination of the move and the loading and delivery. Our driver, Jimmy, in our recent move, was particularly personable, accommodating, and efficient. They truly take a lot of stress and pressure off during the relocation process.”

5/5 — Leon Kerkman, 2025-05-10

“It was overall a pleasant experience. From load to unload it was managed well.”

5/5 — roger Grogman, 2025-05-10

“North American Van Lines has great customer service and moving representatives. Todd was wonderful as our coordinator, Alejandro was amazing as our move coordinator. I was well informed throughout the process of the move. They made it less stressful for sure.”

4/5 — Gayle bond, 2025-04-02

“Worst moving experience of my life. Their crews did not have me sign an inventory list before they left with contents and then forged and changed dates as it was being delivered. Refused to pay for missing items. I would never use this company they are incompetent.”

1/5 — Kim Willnow, 2025-03-05

“The crew of Brian, Joe and Quick are the most professional I’ve ever seen.”

5/5 — Gayla Strait, 2024-12-17

“The whole process of actually moving was expertly facilitated by the driver, James. He is a valuable asset to the company and a brilliant face for the public to see.”

5/5 — Jason Parsons, 2024-11-21

“Great crew!!! Hard workers!!! Strongly recommend the driver, 5 stars all the way!!!”

5/5 — Stephen Taylor, 2024-11-07

“I was reluctant initially! NA Van Lines provided OUTSTANDING service from start to finish!! Professional, organized and the safest transport process I’ve ever experienced. They’re the 6-Star pros, and I’m impressed!!”

5/5 — Kelly Culliver, 2024-09-12

“We had the smoothest experience with moving from Texas to California. None of our belongings were damaged and I could tell the guys took pride in their job and treated our items with the utmost care. They went above and beyond and created a packing box for our tv out of loose cardboard they had because we forgot to order the right sized box for it. Driver kept me informed and they ran early so delivered in 4 days instead of the 5 days. Loading and unloading were smooth and they worked with a...”

“Great moving experience. Had a wonderful driver and crew!”

5/5 — Kathy, 2024-08-26

“Our salesperson, Jeff, was very informative and helpful. He provided excellent customer service. Our driver, Keith, kept us informed and aware of his arrival times. He was very helpful as well. Minor issues with communication with our move coordinator (late notice about how to address the cashier check, etc). Our stuff was loaded and within three days our things arrived. The loading and unloading was fast paced, but they were all friendly. Minor issues to a few items probably because of how...”

“Our experience from start to finish was exceptional. They were so delightful and helpful!!! They went above and beyond to make the out of state movie as pleasant as possible.”

5/5 — Tonja S, 2024-03-27

“We moved across state and we had a great experience with North American Van Lines. The communication, timeliness, and efficiency was truly appreciated.”

5/5 — Afia Alleyne, 2024-02-24

“We had an excellent experience with North American Van Lines - Farmers Branch. From Robert, who came out to do the estimate to Alejandra, who followed up consistently before, during and after our move, to Jose the driver, and all the loaders on both end. I would highly recommend using them for your move! This was my 29th, and I would have to say it’s one of the top experiences I have had.”

5/5 — Tammy Hoeffken, 2024-01-04

“Packing of household goods was very satisfactory. The transport and delivery of household goods was very satisfactory. Transport of motor vehicle through 3rd party vendor, Blue Star, was very dissatisfying. The company reps called multiple times and gave us conflicting information. The vehicle was delivered after midnight. I would strongly suggest that North American not use Blue Star transport company in the future.”

4/5 — Ronald Snyder, 2023-12-11

“Great communication with the driver, both before the move from the original residence, on the day of the move from, and on the way to the new residence.”

5/5 — Rod Spadinger, 2023-11-06

“North American Van lines did an exceptional job with our move! The crew was professional, careful with our belongings and had a great attitude. A very positive experience!”

Frequently asked questions

Is North American Van Lines a good moving company?

North American Van Lines holds 4.3 out of 5 stars from 81 Google reviews at the North American Van Lines agent, Irving, TX location. This Irving, TX agent shows a mostly positive pattern — named drivers and crews praised repeatedly for communication and care — alongside a few serious complaints about compressed packing timelines and warehouse delays pushing delivery weeks past the promised window.

Is North American Van Lines legit?

North American Van Lines was founded in 1933 and is headquartered in Fort Wayne, IN. We haven't independently verified its current USDOT/MC registration — check its active status yourself on FMCSA SAFER before booking, which takes under a minute.

How much does it cost to hire North American Van Lines?

We don't publish company-specific pricing since it varies by move — use our moving cost calculator for a general estimate by home size and distance, then get a written quote directly from North American Van Lines. As a agent network (part of sirva), expect pricing and quote consistency to depend partly on which specific location or crew handles your move.

Does North American Van Lines handle interstate and long-distance moves?

Yes — North American Van Lines is one of the larger national movers, and reviewers describe both in-state and cross-country moves. It's generally considered best for: corporate relocation and long-distance household moves.

What's the most common complaint about North American Van Lines?

At least one pack/load job compressed from 2 days to 1, leading to disorganized packing

How do I get a quote from North American Van Lines?

Request a quote directly through North American Van Lines's website or by phone, and ask for an in-home or video walkthrough survey rather than a phone-only estimate for anything larger than a 1-bedroom — it produces a far more accurate number. Get the estimate type (binding, non-binding, or binding-not-to-exceed) in writing.

What should I do if North American Van Lines damages my belongings?

Photograph the damage before the crew leaves and note it on the delivery inventory sheet — don't sign a "no damage" confirmation until you've actually inspected everything. File a written claim promptly and keep every email; several reviewers report better outcomes after escalating in writing past the first-line claims team.

How far in advance should I book North American Van Lines?

4–8 weeks ahead for most moves, 8–12 weeks ahead during peak season (May–September). Get written confirmation of your actual booking, not just a completed survey or quote — a survey alone doesn't guarantee a crew is reserved for your date.

Is North American Van Lines part of the same company as Allied?

Yes — both are agent networks under SIRVA, though they operate as separate brands with separate local agents.

How reliable is North American Van Lines' delivery window?

Reviews for this agent are mixed on timing — several describe on-time or ahead-of-schedule delivery, while others report weeks-long delays tied to warehouse and driver availability. Ask for a specific delivery window in writing and what happens if it's missed.

Is North American Van Lines a broker or a carrier?

North American Van Lines operates as a carrier through its agent network, not a broker — but as with any agent-based mover, ask which specific local agent will handle your move and check that agent's own reviews too.
